פרופ' הלפמן הינה פסיכולוגית חינוכית וקלינית, אשר חוקרת את הקשר הפסיכו-ביו-סוציאלי בין מגדר ומין לבין התגובה לדחק ולטראומה וההתאוששות מהם. במיוחד, הקשר בין השינויים ההורמונליים לאורך חייהן של נשים וילדות לבין מנגנונים הקשורים לתגובות דחק.
Prof. Helpman is an educational and clinical psychologist, trained in both Israel and the USA. Her research focuses on individual differences in stress response, posttraumatic reactions, and the assessment and treatment of trauma-related disorders. She is passionate about employing a bio-psycho-social prism to the investigation of stress responses and related psychopathologies, with the aim of contributing to the tailoring of developmentally- and gender-informed assessment, prevention and intervention programs

rof. Helpman holds a BA in psychology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, an MA in Psychology in Education from the Clinical Psychology Program at Columbia University in the City of New York, and a PhD in Psychology from Bar Ilan University in Israel

Prof. Helpman was trained as a T32 postdoctoral fellow in the Global Mental Health Program at Columbia University Medical Center and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, where she worked within the Traum and PTSD program on both implementation studies and neurobehavioral, translational studies. She then returned to Israel and was a PI in the Psychiatric Research Unit at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, before joining the University of Haifa in the fall of 2020
