פרופ' אנית סומך היא פסיכולוגית ארגונית ופרופסור מן המניין במחלקה למנהיגות ומדיניות בחינוך בפקולטה לחינוך, אוניברסיטת חיפה. היא נמנית עם החוקרות המצוטטות והמובילות בתחומי ההתנהגות הארגונית ומנהל החינוך, עם למעלה מ־14,000 ציטוטים ו־H-index של 50. מחקריה, המתפרשים על פני שלושה עשורים, תרמו תרומה משמעותית להבנת האפקטיביות הארגונית במערכות חינוך, תוך שילוב תאוריות של פסיכולוגיה ארגונית עם מאפייניה הייחודיים של הסביבה הבית־ספרית.

שלושת מוקדי מחקרה המרכזיים הם מנהיגות משתפת, עבודת צוות, והתנהגות אזרחית ארגונית .(OCB) בתחום המנהיגות המשתפת,  הייתה חלוצה בהפרכת ההנחה כי ניהול שיתופי הוא "פתרון אוניברסלי". ממצאיה הראו כי מנהיגות משתפת מעודדת חדשנות ו־OCB  באמצעות העצמה, בעוד שמנהיגות מכוונת תורמת לביצועי ליבה דרך חיזוק מחויבות ארגונית. תרומה מרכזית זו—המעבר מתפיסת “או/או” ל“גם וגם”—יוצרת מודל אינטגרטיבי לבחירת סגנון ניהול בהתאם להקשר.

בתחום עבודת הצוות, הדגישו מחקריה כי מבנים ארגוניים בלבד אינם מבטיחים אפקטיביות צוותית. מרכיבי ליבה כגון למידה צוותית, ניהול קונפליקטים ותהליכי עבודה נמצאו חיוניים ליצירת תוצאות משמעותיות. מחקריה החדשניים על פעילות גבול צוותית (boundary activities) הדגישו את חשיבות חציית הגבולות בין הצוותים לבין סביבתם לשם גיוס משאבים, בניית קשרים ויצירת חדשנות. מודל זה, המבוסס על גישה רב־רמתית, הפך לאבן יסוד במחקר העכשווי על אינטראקציות בין צוותים.

בתחום התנהגות אזרחית ארגונית, פיתחה פרופ' סומך מודל רב־ממדי להבנת OCB במערכת החינוך. בשנים האחרונות הובילה מחקר חלוצי על תופעת לחצי האזרחות (Citizenship Pressure)—המציג את השלכות הדרישה לביצוע תפקידים מעבר לרף הנדרש על רווחת העובד ותפקודו.

פרופ' סומך פרסמה למעלה מ־90 מאמרים בכתבי עת מובילים, בהם Academy of Management Journal,‏ Journal of Management,‏ Journal of Organizational Behavior,‏ Work & Stress ו-Educational Administration Quarterly. . בנוסף, חיברה יחד עם פרופ' יזהר אופלטקה את הספר המשפיע Organizational Citizenship Behavior in Schools,  שהפך למסגרת תיאורטית מרכזית בתחום.

מחקריה זכו למענקי מחקר תחרותיים ולפרסים רבים.

מעבר למחקר, כיהנה בתפקידים מוסדיים—חברה בוועדות מרכזיות באוניברסיטה, ראש חוג, חברת סנאט ויועצת הנשיא והרקטור להוגנות מגדרית.

מחקריה מתמקדים במוטיבציה לעבודה ובניהול מנקודת מבט מצבית ורב־ רמתית. באופן ספציפי, היא חוקרת:
א. התנהגות אזרחית ארגונית (OCB) ברמת היחיד, הצוות והארגון.
