Congratulations to Prof. Eli Raveh Faculty of Education University of Haifa

Congratulations to Prof. Tali Roe from the Faculty of Education at the University of Haifa for receiving a commendation for her lecture at the Israeli Conference on Education (ICER 2025).
The lecture dealt with the contribution of subcortical regions of the brain to the ability to quickly identify small quantities — a basic ability in number perception, which is an important foundation for the development of more complex mathematical understanding.
The findings suggest that there is more than one way to “see numbers”: some people rely on rapid pattern recognition, while others rely on serial and slower processing. This understanding can help educators distinguish between real difficulty and a different processing style — and adapt teaching methods more accurately.
